  • Sports Booster Endowment Raffle

    The Olean Sports Booster Club has rescheduled their annual Endowment Raffle party that was initially set for
    April 24th at the Olean Pulaski Club.  The new date is May 30th also at the Olean Pulaski Club.  Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Drawing will be at 8:00 pm.

    In the event that May 30th is cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the Booster Club will hold the drawing without a party. This will be announced by May 11th and the drawing will take place on FACEBOOK LIVE WATCH prior to the end of the normal school year.

    The final Early Bird drawing will take place April 24th and the winners will be announced.

    If you would like to purchase a ticket for the drawing or have tickets to turn in , you can contact  Jeff Spears, Meme Yanetsko, Char Dwaileebe or any Olean Sports Booster Club member.

  • Meningococcal Vaccine

    The Olean City School District believes that parents should have information on the health of their children.  New York State has required the Meningococcal Vaccine for all students in grades 7 and 12.  Click here to read about the Meningococcal Vaccine.

  • Inspection and/or Request of Records
     
    District records are available for inspection at no cost to the public. Copies are available at the statutorily permitted duplication fee of $.25 per page by check or money order made payable to the Olean C. Requests for inspection must be in writing and addressed to the Records Access Officer via regular or electronic mail or facsimile. The Records Access Officer will acknowledge receipt and provide the requestor with the District staff person's name, title, and phone number to schedule an appointment at a mutually convenient date and time for inspection. Records or portions thereof which are prohibited from disclosure pursuant to FOIL will be redacted or omitted; the requestor will be notified of the reason(s) for the redaction(s) and of the procedures to appeal to the Commissioner of Education. Inspection of records are by appointment between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Public Notice

  • Public Notice

    Dear District Residents:

    • Per the Executive Order from Governor Cuomo (202.26, effective May 1, 2020), the May 19, 2020, Olean City School District budget vote and board election will now occur only by absentee ballot on June 9, 2020. Per the Order voting will not occur in-person.
      • The adjourned budget hearing will be held on June 1, 2020, at 6:00 pm pm via remote access and will be available for viewing on the district’s website www.oleanschools.org
      • All qualified (registered) voters (see definition below) will be mailed an absentee ballot in which they can cast a vote for the school budget vote, board of education vacancy and other proposition(s) the Board of Education may authorize.
      • Board of education candidates must file a nomination petition with the District Clerk by 5:00 pm on May 11th and meet all eligibility requirements, excluding nominating signatures.
      • The absentee ballot mailing will including a self-addressed stamped envelope to return the absentee ballot to the District Clerk.
      • The absentee ballots will be mailed to qualified (registered) voters after the ballot is set; ballots must be returned to the District Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on June 9th.
    • A qualified voter is defined as:
      • A qualified voter must be a United States Citizen, at least 18 years old, a district resident for thirty days immediately to the date of the election, with their current address either correctly filed at the Cattaraugus County Board of Election, or properly registered at the district's registration to be held on May 18, 2020, from noon to 3:00 pm by appointment only. The Olean City School District uses a system of personal registration, therefore, you must be registered to vote.

NOTICE OF ADJOURNED ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLIC HEARING AND VOTE:

  • NOTICE OF ADJOURNED ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLIC HEARING AND VOTE:

     NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN, that a remote public hearing for the voters of the District on the 2020-2021 budget and expenditure of funds will be held on June 1, 2020, commencing at 6:00 p.m. Prevailing Time via remote access and will be available for view on the district’s website www.oleanschools.org.

    AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual School District vote of the Olean City School District (“District”), Cattaraugus County, New York will be held on Tuesday, June  9, 2020, from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M for the purposes of electing one (1) Member of the Board of Education, voting on the budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year, and transacting such other business as is authorized by law:

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE qualified (registered) voters shall vote in such adjourned election by absentee ballot provided to all qualified (registered) voters of the school district. In-person voting is not permitted.

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the election of a member of the Board of Education shall be held to fill one (1) position on the Board. This position is to be for a five (5) year and 21 day term commencing on June 10, 2020, and terminating on June 30, 2025, due to the resignation of Michael Martello. 

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that all candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education shall be nominated by petition.  Candidates will be listed on the ballot alphabetically.

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the election of a Trustee of the Olean Public Library shall be held to fill one (1) five-year term commencing July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2025, as a result of the expiration of the term of office presently held by Earl McElfresh.

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that voting on the budget and propositions shall consist of voting on the following proposition, and on each other propositions as are authorized by law and the rules of this Board to be voted on at said time:

    PROPOSITION NO. 1 – 2020-2021 Basic Budget

    Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:

    RESOLVED that the basic budget for the Olean City School District (the “District”) for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021, as presented by the Board of Education, is hereby approved and adopted and the required funds therefore are hereby appropriated and the necessary real property taxes required shall be raised by a tax on the taxable property in the District to be levied and collected as required by law.

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that absentee ballots will be used to record the vote on the budget, on the proposition(s), and on the election of a Member to the Olean City School District Board of Education and a Trustee of the Olean Public Library.  Absentee ballots must be returned to the District Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020.

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the Board of Education of this District has adopted Submission of Questions or Propositions to be Placed Thereon. Printed copies for general distribution in the District are available at the office of the District Clerk located in the District Office, 410 West Sullivan Street, Olean, New York, 14760.

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that Personal Registration of voters is required pursuant to the requirements of Section 2606 of the New York State Education Law and that the Special Registration Date for the regular annual election to be held on June 9, 2020, be established as Monday, May 18, 2020, between the hours of 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m.  A register containing names of registered voters will be available, upon request, to taxpayers within this District during the hours of 9:00 A.M. Prevailing Time to 4:00 P.M. Prevailing Time from May 18, 2020, to June 9, 2020, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, by appointment, at the office of the District Clerk located in the District Office, 410 West Sullivan Street, Olean, New York, 14760.

    AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that military voters, not currently registered, may apply to register as a qualified voter of the school district by requesting and returning a military voter registration application to the Clerk of the school district no later than 3 p.m. on May 18, 2020​​​​​​, and must further indicate his/her preference for receiving said military voter registration, ballot application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or email.

    AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that registered military voters may apply for a military ballot be requesting and returning a military ballot application to the Clerk of the school district no later than 3 p.m. on May 26, 2020, and must indicate his/her preference for receiving said military ballot application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or email.

    TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the Board of Education of this District will have prepared and completed a detailed statement in writing of the amount of money which will be required during the ensuing 2020-2021 fiscal year for school purposes, specifying the several purposes and the amount for each. The amount of each purpose estimated necessary for payments to boards of cooperative education services shall be set forth in full with no deduction of estimated state aid. Said statement will be available, to taxpayers within this District during the hours of 12:00 P.M. Prevailing Time to 3:00 P.M. Prevailing Time by appointment only from May 26, 2020 to June 9, 2020, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The detailed statement will also be available on the district’s website www.oleanschools.org.

    By Order of the Board of Education Olean City School District that the District Clerk is hereby directed to arrange for the printing and mailing of absentee ballots for said Annual School District Vote, Olean Public Library Trustee Vote, and the Submission of Questions or Propositions to be Placed Thereon, adopted by the Board of Education in February 1997, and for each proposition to be submitted the words YES and NO shall be printed.
