• What is the Liberty Partnerships Program?

The Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) was established in 1988 under Section 612, Subdivision 6 of the Education Law to address the significant dropout rate among New York’s youth.

The legislation states: “the failure of many young New Yorkers to complete their secondary education limits their opportunity for a life of fulfillment, prevents them from advancing into postsecondary education and hinders the State’s efforts to provide a well-trained workforce for business and industry in New York.”

What does it look like in Olean?

The Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) in the Olean City School District is under the direction of SUNY Fredonia and offers tutoring and advocacy and gives students opportunities for participating in a variety of enriching activities.

After School Study Hall is available in the Liberty Partnerships room, Room 4, located in the basement of the high school Monday through Thursday until 4:00 pm.  Students may come regularly or on an as-needed basis. 6th and 7th grade students may join us with parent permission.

Liberty Partnerships Study Hall is available throughout the day for students in grades 6-12.  Students may attend this study hall hall which is smaller and has staff to assist with school work, has computers available, and offers other activities when work is complete. If your child has a regular study hall and would like to change it to the Liberty Partnerships Study Hall, please have him or her stop by to talk to us.

In addition to the academic features of the Program, enrolled students may be invited to participate in college visits, college prep workshops, job seeking workshops, summer employment, and any other activities funded by the SUNY Fredonia Liberty Partnerships Program.
