I grew up on a small farm in Ellicottville, NY where I spent most of my time at my farm, with my animals, or outdoors. My love for science stems from constantly being outside in nature, interacting with many different types of animals, and my inquisitive nature of wanting to better understand my surroundings.
I attended college at Alfred State SUNY College of Technology where I pursued a degree in Forensic Science Technology, allowing me to follow my passion for science as well as my desire to help restore justice for others. While pursing my degree, I became a supplemental instruction leader and tutor for freshman students where I helped them to understand scientific concepts and laboratory skills in Microbiology. I enjoyed working with the younger students and felt there was no greater satisfaction than seeing them succeed. This experience led me to pursue a degree in education, where I could combine my love of science with my love of helping students. I attended St. Bonaventure University, where I earned a degree in Adolescence Education, certified in biology and chemistry content areas.
Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling. My hobbies include gardening, running, hiking through the woods, sports, fishing, and kayaking, and coaching youth summer soccer teams.
