Each student will have until May 19th to complete the following:
-
Design and build a single-story cabin/cottage that is between 600-900 square feet in scaled inch units using a gabled or shed roof that is removable using foam core and X-Acto knives.
Constraints:

Your completed scaled floor plan drawings and structure need to include the following features:
-
A common room
-
Kitchen area
-
A bathroom that is large enough to have a toilet, shower and vanity

Bedroom
-
Interior storage/utility closet
-
Interior door(s)-- cut outs are acceptable 36” scale
-
2 Exterior doors—swing in 36”scale
-
5-12 windows
-
Your design can show vaulted ceilings, flat ceilings and/or both

The longest side of the house cannot be longer than 36’. The width cannot be longer than 26’.

The finalized scaled drawing will be copied, and one will be glued to mounting cardboard with foamboard-constructed building sitting on top of the drawing.

Observe and practice proper safety practices while using X-ACTO and inline knives.

Complete all project deliverables by May 19th.

Sketch and present 5 footprint solutions to Mr. Brown starting Wednesday

Once a shape has been chosen, determine the length and width of your structure making sure that it falls between the acceptable square footage. Plan out room placement and sizes.

Begin final scaled down version on ¼" grid paper.

Walls need to be representative of 6” thick

Completed drawing needs to be signed off by Mr. Brown

Begin measuring and cutting walls, windows, and doors on foamcore.

All doors need to be 7’ tall and 3’ wide
-
All rooms should be large enough to accommodate features.
