Parents' Guide to Student Success
Recently, New York State has adopted new learning standards for students - the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics for Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Common Core Standards have now been adopted by more than 40 states across the country to ensure that what students learn in Pre-K through 12 will prepare them for what they are expected to know and be able to do for college and career readiness. Our teachers and administrators have been learning about and preparing for the new learning standards across the district in all content areas. The National PTA has developed useful guides to help parents understand the key ideas that children should be learning at each grade, activities that parents can do at home to support their child's learning, and suggestions for helping parents to communicate with their child's teacher.
