Welcoming Our School Community: Supporting Happy Hearts and Minds
Dear Students, Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Families,
As we look ahead to another exciting year in the Olean City School District, I am delighted to welcome each and every member of our school community. Whether you are joining us for the first time or have been a part of the Husky family for many years, we are grateful to have you with us.
At OCSD, our mission extends beyond academic achievement. We believe students learn best when they feel safe, supported, valued, and connected. That is why we strive every day to create environments where students can develop happy hearts and minds, build meaningful relationships, and gain the confidence they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Our number one priority is safety. We are committed to maintaining schools where students and staff feel physically, emotionally, and socially secure. A safe learning environment is the foundation upon which all growth and learning are built, and we remain dedicated to continuously strengthening our practices, procedures, and supports to ensure every student can thrive.
As we continue our journey together, our Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap for the future. Developed through the collaboration and feedback of students, families, staff, and community members, the plan reflects our shared commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for all students while fostering a culture of belonging, growth, and success.

We will continue to nurture a welcoming environment where every student, family, and staff member feels respected, valued, and included. A strong sense of belonging helps create the happy hearts and minds that allow students to flourish.
3. Progressive and Enriching Learning for All Students
Our students are preparing for a rapidly changing world. We will provide engaging learning opportunities that develop creativity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills necessary for future success.
4. Data-Driven Decision-Making
We will continue to use meaningful data and evidence-based practices to guide decisions, improve programs, and ensure resources are used effectively to support student achievement and well-being.
5. Engaging Family and Community Partnerships
Strong schools are built through collaboration. We value the support of our families, local businesses, and community organizations and will continue to strengthen these partnerships to enhance opportunities for our students.
As Huskies, we know that success happens when we work together. In fact, one of our favorite reminders is that it takes all the Huskies to pull the sled. By supporting one another and keeping students at the center of everything we do, we can continue building a school community where every child feels safe, supported, and empowered.
